Farmina Changes Formulas in New US Plant

Here at ShakaPaw, we want to be completely transparent with you, our valued customer, about some important changes regarding Farmina Pet Foods and how they affect the products you rely on from ShakaPaw Pet Market.

What's Happening with Farmina?

You trust us to carry foods that meet high standards, and we take that responsibility very seriously. Farmina recently opened a US manufacturing facility and, without advance communication, made formula changes to several recipes. We, along with many other independent pet stores, are very disappointed by this lack of transparency.

Our Standards and What This Means for You

Our store has always committed to carrying foods free of corn, wheat, soy, and meat by-products. Farmina chose to add wheat to their Grain-Inclusive formulas, which simply does not align with our standards. They also added chicken and rice to these formulas, which could pose a dietary issue if your pet has a food intolerance to chicken.

The Next Steps for Our Store

Therefore, we've made the difficult decision to discontinue Farmina's Grain-Inclusive lines, including Ancestral Grain & Tropical Grain-Inclusive. We won't be placing regular orders anymore.

A Note on Grain-Free Recipes

Farmina's Grain-Free single protein diets are still on our shelves, but several now have new ingredients like dehydrated chicken and hydrolyzed pork. This might matter if your pet has sensitivities to chicken or pork. We are actively monitoring these changes and will take further action if they fall below our standards.
